Full-time Global Academy Enrollment

Full-time GPS Global Academy students take all of their Gilbert Public Schools classes online. Students who enroll full-time should meet one of the following criteria:

This student wishes to take all of their classes online via GPS Global Academy and will not take classes at another Gilbert Public Schools campus.
This student will attend classes on a non-Gilbert Public Schools campus but take online classes via GPS Global Academy

The quick and easy online application is in English or Spanish. Open enrollment opportunities are available for students who wish to attend a school within the Gilbert Public School District but don't live within that school's boundaries. Families without a computer or internet access can visit a school to request paper forms (or utilize a computer at the school) to begin the enrollment process. Contact your student’s school directly for assistance.

GPS Global Academy is available to all Arizona students, 7th through 12th grade, at no charge.

If you are an existing Gilbert Public School family and would like to enroll a new student or are looking to transfer a student from one school to another please begin enrollment using your existing Infinite Campus Parent Portal. (After logging into your Infinite Campus account, click on Online Registration under the More link on the left menu to get started.)

Existing GPS Family Registration

Families of students who attend a GPS school may use the "Back to School" selection tool found in the Infinite Campus parent portal to enroll as a full-time GPS Global Academy student by selecting "Global Academy" as your school.

Junior High & High School Students

All junior high and high school courses through Global Academy will be a maximum of 18 weeks in length, but students may complete them sooner if they can.
Full time online enrollment is offered to 9th-12th grade students, who will be scheduled into 6 courses at a time.
Junior High students may apply for concurrent enrollment, with at least one class being taken at the brick and mortar campus per semester.
All of our courses are student-paced, where the student completes the course asynchronously with a teacher facilitator.

Each course contains a final exam that must be taken in person. Full-time Global Academy students may take their exams at the Global Academy testing center, located at 55 N Greenfield Road in Gilbert beginning in August.

Note: High school students who plan to become eligible to be NCAA athletes should indicate this on their registration form. Global Academy courses are certified by the NCAA but we want to make sure you meet all the necessary eligibility guidelines.

Course Drop Policy

If you choose to drop a course within 30 days of enrollment, it will be dropped without grade penalty. Any drops made after 30 days of enrollment will result in a W/F (Withdraw/Fail) grade on the transcript. This grade will be replaced once the student completes the class.
To receive a full course refund (not including any bank processing fee), parent must email GAonline@gilbertschools.net a drop request within FIVE business days of the course beginning. Please include the student's full name, ID#, course name and Drop Request in the subject line. Please allow up to 3 weeks for processing.

In addition to completing the enrollment packet, the following documents are required. You can upload some of these documents, or after a campus representative has contacted you, bring the required documentation to the campus to complete the enrollment process.

Birth Certificate – Required showing that a student falls within the school district’s minimum and maximum age requirements. Students must be five (5) years old on or before August 31 of the school year for enrollment in kindergarten and six (6) years of age on or before August 31 of the school year for enrollment into first grade. The birth certificate is also used to verify the correct legal name. In compliance with federal, state and district guidelines, all students are enrolled using the legal name on the student’s birth certificate UNLESS there has been a court-ordered name change and a photocopy of the legal name change documents are provided at the time of enrollment.
Proof of Residency – Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S) 15-802(b) requires school districts to obtain and maintain verifiable documentation of Arizona Residency upon enrollment in an Arizona public school. The documentation must be provided each time a student enrolls in a school and reaffirmed annually.

- Affidavit of Residency – If you are residing in the home of a relative or friend, you must provide an Affidavit of Residency notarized by the owner/renter. The owner/renter of the home must provide the same proof of residency documentation noted above with the Affidavit.
Proof of Immunization – All students entering Arizona public schools are required by law to be immunized. Proof of immunization or a signed waiver is required at the time of enrollment and must include the name of the person, birth date, type of vaccine administered and the month, day and year of each immunization (A.R.S. 15-828).
Legal Guardianship or Custodial Documents – Please provide any legal guardianship and/or custody documents regarding the student.
Withdrawal Form – Please provide a withdrawal form from the last school the student attended, if applicable.

OPEN ENROLLMENT

In accordance with state law, the District has established this open enrollment policy and implemented an open enrollment program without charging tuition for nonresident students and resident transfer students.

For purposes of this policy, a nonresident student is a state resident who resides outside of the District's boundaries but who seeks to enroll in the District. A resident transfer student is a state resident who resides in the District's boundaries but who seeks to enroll in a school outside of the student's attendance area. The process is the same for resident and non-resident transfer students. However, resident transfer students are given priority placement over non-resident transfer students.

The Superintendent shall develop and implement an administrative regulation and any other documents needed to administer the District's open enrollment program, including the District’s application process, standards for acceptance, capacity determination, enrollment priorities, transportation provisions and interscholastic eligibility.

The Open Enrollment application must be completed and submitted to the school in which the student seeks to enroll, outside of the designated school boundaries. Applications for open enrollment may be submitted to the school starting the first business day in November of any school year. Acceptance of an open enrollment student is on a year-by-year basis, however, students do not need to re-apply unless they are seeking enrollment at another school site. Building administrators will notify the parents of non-renewed open enrollment applicants by May 1st.

Failure to disclose factually accurate and truthful information on the District's Open Enrollment Application may result in revocation of the student's acceptance.
